What is the Scoop the Poop Challenge?

The Scoop the Poop Challenge is a community service campaign to keep our streets, yards, and streams free of pet waste. Everyone who pledges to do their part to keep the city clean will be entered into a random drawing for cool prizes. The neighborhood that collects the most pledges will win even cooler prizes!

Who is organizing the Challenge, and why?

The City of Frederick Planning Department is hosting the Scoop the Poop Challenge as part of its efforts to improve the quality of life for residents, increase the City's appeal as a tourist destination, and reduce germs and pollution in our waterways.

The City is grateful for the generous support of many local sponsors who have contributed prizes.

The City has received a grant from the Chesapeake Bay Trust to support this effort. The Center for Watershed Protection and Water Words That Work, LLC are providing technical support.

Who is eligible to take the pledge and assign it to a Frederick Neighborhood Advisory Council?

Any City of Frederick resident aged 18 and over, may take the pledge and assign the pledge to their Neighborhood Advisory Council. There is a limit of one pledge per household.

Do I have to own a pet to participate in the Challenge?

No. The Challenge is open to all residents. If you don't own a pet, you can still voice your support for proper pet waste disposal and help your neighborhood compete for the prizes.
